The History of Hyde Development

Mac Hyde co-founded Real Estate Recycling in 1995 to develop contaminated property. Over the span of his career, Mac had 50 years of experience in the environmental law field.

Urban redevelopment and brownfield sites continued to be the focus when Mac Hyde and his son, Paul Hyde, co-founded Hyde Development in 2012. Since then, the company has completed over 5.4 million SF of industrial and office development in Minnesota, Colorado and North Dakota.

Hyde began introducing placemaking into the industrial space with walking trails, food trucks and other amenities—making it feel more like a neighborhood rather than a typical business park.

Paul Hyde says, “It's become kind of the neighborhood Cheers for the industrial park. You get all these different folks working in different buildings meeting each other. It's really cool. It creates community outside of the house. That's really when you're doing the development stuff right.”
